What is this role about?

In this key role, our database philosophy is that Database Administrators are experts in their field and have a strong desire to learn new skills. As a DBA, you will work on multiple databases across many languages and be constantly modernizing their architecture.

What does a “Day-in-the-Life” look like?

You will be involved with creating automation for repeating database tasks, reports, architecting highly available and performant database systems, and being stewards of security and data integrity. You will be working through system performance/scaling concepts and making meaningful contributions to company goals and planning efforts.

Responsibilities

Here are a few more specifics of what you would be doing on the job:

Architecting database systems to be highly available and scalable
Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning
Install, tune, implement and upgrade DBMS installations
Preserve data integrity
Proper handling of private/secure data
Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements and optimizations

Qualifications

What do I need to be successful?

5-7 years Database Administration or Data Engineering experience
Expertise in Oracle, including GoldenGate and DataGuard, MongoDB, and AWS RDS
Expertise in shell scripting. Python and other languages
Able to debug complex system issues and analyze Splunk or ElasticSearch APM logs/metrics
Strong familiarity with Unix/Linux systems
Experience with Apache Airflow and data engineering pipelines
Nice to have experience in Postgres, MySQL, MS SQL Server
Passion for automating repetitive tasks and learning new skills with a growth mindset
