Responsibilities
Site Reliability Engineers(SREs) at Frontdoor are responsible for maintaining the availability and uptime of infrastructure. SREs use software engineering principles to solve operational challenges to create reliable infrastructure. We try to reduce the toil from our everyday work using as much automation as possible. As a SRE, you will be working with Software and Security engineers to build the platform, pipeline, and monitoring systems that Frontdoor will leverage to deploy and run its applications.
Act as the guiding technical vision the application platform
Perform gap analysis in Frontdoor’s applications to ensure they adhere to a high quality
Deliver on solutions that few others can, either by your own heavy lifting or the ability to orchestrate large group efforts
Solve complex platform problems in pragmatic ways, drastically reducing risk while limiting the business impact
Improve the definition of best practices and architecture with deep domain knowledge
Create plans to build effective solutions to problems that are barely on the horizon
Create alignment and improved collaboration within and outside software organizations
Build, improve, and grow an organization’s culture in a positive way
Work at the architecture level as well in the deep implementation details for platform solutions
Qualifications
Ability to ensure SRE aligns to business needs without impeding development
Ability to drive a small team through influence to innovative solutions
Clear understanding of infrastructure, networking, and computing services/deployment architecture
Are comfortable generating automated metrics to measure service and program effectiveness and consistency
Experience building resiliency into system architecture
Understanding of DevOps processes and procedures
Experience performing resiliency modeling and design reviews to assess availability and scaling implications and requirements for introduction of new technologies.
Ability to communicate ideas and proposals concisely, both verbally and written, to senior staff members
Container experience (Docker)
Container orchestration experience (Kubernetes)
Strong knowledge of service mesh (Istio, Kong)
Configuration Management (Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible)
CI/CD Pipeline experience (Jenkins, Gitlab)
Programmatic Integration with Ticketing and Asset Management systems
Programming skills (Python, Go)
Hands-on SRE experience, with in-depth knowledge of scaling in the cloud, and software engineering practices
A solid understanding of devops and SRE standards & methodologies
Ability to distill complex problems and drive toward creative solutions
Strong organizational and relationship skills
Bonus Points:
Architecture related certifications (Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Architect/Developer, Amazon AWS Certified Solutions – Architect – Professional, Amazon AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, CCSP)
Familiarity with a self-service oriented environment to enable software engineers
Familiarity with serverless technology
Agile/SCRUM experience
Web server/client and mobile architecture and implementation experience (OpenAPI/Swagger, gRPC)

The incoming salary for this role is $170,000 for the minimum level of experience outlined in the requirements for this role; however, the salary we ultimately offer will typically increase commensurate with experience.
