Responsibilities

As Director of Data Engineering, you will work with other senior leaders to establish plans and goals regarding the data engineering function. You will make final decisions that impact business results, as well as, lead others to solve complex, cross-functional problems and develop solutions.

Analyze and organize raw data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements
Build and maintain data systems and pipelines to support increases in data volume andcomplexity
Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
Contribute towards the development, construction, and maintenance of data models within data warehouses using dimensional modeling
Conduct complex data analysis and report on analysis to end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts
Interpret trends and patterns
Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
Program and maintain reports, dashboards, data generators and other end-user information portals or resources
Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
Identify opportunities for data acquisition
Develop analytical tools and programs to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models in order to increase data accessibility and foster data driven decision making in the organization
Build shared culture across a broad team around House Rules and work to incorporate those rules as a way of doing business
Understand the business strategy and how your teams’ work contribute to company OKRs
Lead complex, cross-functional problems and develop solutions
Determine success criteria for projects, programs, and people
Ensure teams’ budgets, performance goals, deadlines, and project schedules are established and met
As a people manager, provide coaching, evaluate performance, and provide training to direct reports

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, or similar field
Experience in writing code in Java and Python
12+ years experience in leadership in relevant field
Willingness to challenge the status-quo
Excellent familiarity with big data analytical techniques and cloud technologies
Highly technical and analytical skills
Excellent understanding and knowledge in algorithms and statistics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking skills in formulating hypotheses, interpreting results
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
Ability to anticipate problems and opportunities and the initiative to pursue solutions.
Intellectual curiosity and ability to handle high levels of ambiguity
Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts and output to non-experts in both a written and verbal manner
Business insight
Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines

The incoming salary for this role is$200,000for the minimum level of experience outlined in the requirements for this role; however, the salary we ultimately offer will typically increase commensurate with experience.
